Raffey Cassidy wants to be directed by Greta Gerwig

Raffey Cassidy recently stopped for a chat with Miss Flicks to discuss Noah Baumbach‘s latest movie White Noise, in which she stars alongside Greta Gerwig and Adam Driver.

During the conversation, The Killing of a Sacred Deer star revealed that her co-star, Barbie director Gerwig, is on her wishlist of filmmakers she would like to work with, having already ticked off the likes of Yorgos Lanthimos, Robert Zemeckis, Tim Burton and, of course, Gerwig’s partner Baumbach.

Here’s our interview, which took place during the London Film Festival back in October.

Noah is very exact and he likes his words to be said exactly how they’re written on the page. How was that for you?

It was amazing. I have never done it before so it was a challenge and a different experience. I love challenging myself as an actor. I’ve worked with directors who like to just improvise on the day, which is also challenging, so it’s just a different experience. It was fun.

Do you have a preference?

No, not at all. I love doing it different ways. Also, I don’t know if I’m better at one or the other – I feel like they’re just two totally different (experiences). Also, Noah created such a safe environment for you to experiment as well, there was room for that. You always want to be comfortable on set because you’re kind of making yourself vulnerable so I think he definitely created that.

When you look back at the production, what is your most memorable scene or day?

Oh, probably the first day when we did the kitchen scene and we were all dancing around each other because we spent like a week rehearsing that. It was our first shooting day, it was fun, everyone was really excited and raring to go, so probably that. Or the scenes in the water; that was very eventful, we were all trapped in a car for the whole day, sick of each other.

So you’ve ticked Noah off your list, who else is on your wishlist of directors?

Greta, obviously, or Joe Wright. Hanna’s my favourite film.

White Noise is streaming on Netflix from Friday 30th December
