Top films for July

We are now in July and boy oh boy are you in for a treat this month!! Blockbuster season is well and truly here baby! Here’s a rundown of the films I’m most excited to see over the coming weeks.

Elemental

Disney/Pixar’s latest animation hasn’t done well at the US box office and that makes me really sad because it’s so good! It tells a beautiful story about a blossoming friendship between Ember Lumen (Leah Lewis), a fire element, and Wade Ripple (Mamoudou Athie), a water element. I cried a couple of times! Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

The seventh instalment in the enduring Mission: Impossible franchise is coming! I have no idea about the plot, but do we really need that information?! Tbh, all we need to know is that Tom Cruise is back doing his daredevil stunts as Ethan Hunt. Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby are also back for more action while Hayley Atwell joins the fold. Here’s my review. In cinemas from 10th July

Barbie

My most anticipated movie of the year! I cannot wait to see this film and I have full faith in Greta Gerwig. In a time when trailers give away everything, I love that we don’t truly know what the story is about. We know Margot Robbie‘s Barbie leaves Barbieland and Ryan Gosling‘s Ken goes along for the ride but that’s about it! The mystery just adds to the hype. Here’s my review. In cinemas from 21st July

Oppenheimer

The ultimate cinema face-off! Are you seeing Barbie or Oppenheimer first? The projects couldn’t be more different! Christopher Nolan‘s latest stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the so-called father of the atomic bomb. Judging by the trailer, this is going to be one gripping, nail-biting thriller. It also has a stacked cast list featuring Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh. Here’s my review. Also in cinemas from 21st July

They Cloned Tyrone

John Boyega, Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris play a hustler, a pimp and a prostitute who stumble upon a conspiracy in their neighbourhood – people are being experimented on and cloned! I’m intrigued by this one! On Netflix from 21st July

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

Raphael, Donatello, Michaelangelo and Leonardo are back! This animated sci-fi comedy was co-written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg so I’m expecting it to be hilarious. The film follows the foursome as they try to be accepted as normal teenagers while being pitted against a crime syndicate and an army of mutants. Here’s my review. In cinemas from 31st July
